TruthQuest Journals:

Janie Jo
PACIFIC BEACH, Calif. (BP)--Today I met Alex. He is a man who lives in California. He was just a little confused about the Scripture.

Several times he had questions or points that I did not know how to answer. Although it would seem to the outsider that I failed in witnessing to him, I know I was successful because I was obedient to what Christ called me to do. It was also cool witnessing to him because when I first started asking him questions, He said that I was the third person who had talked to him about Jesus today.

I know Christ is trying to do something in His life and it is cool that I got to be a small part of that. At one point, though, I felt like I was drowning, and the Lord brought Psalms 81:10 to my mind which says, “I am the Lord your God who brought you up out of bondage. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.” Immediately after that, Alex started saying that Jesus was a good moral teacher and told many interesting stories. He then started talking about the parable of the Prodigal Son. I thought, here’s my opportunity. I began to share with him that everyone of us have sinned and slapped our heavenly Father in the face, but he is waiting with arms open wide for us to come back into his arms again. Although Alex did not make a commitment today, I could tell that this story made sense to him. It’s funny though. When I started talking to Alex, I was so focused on doing something else that I almost missed an opportunity to minister to him. It made me think, I wonder how many other opportunities I have missed just today because I was so focused on other things that I missed the opportunities that the Lord was sending my way. Today’s meeting with Alex made me want to be conscious about looking for people with whom I can share the Truth. Alex also said something that I think fits perfectly with our mission on TQ:CA. He said “when you stop searching for the Truth, you die inside.” Although Alex is as lost as can be, he makes an excellent point. When we start being content with where we are, our spirit can start dying inside. He challenged me to never be content with where I am.

Verse of the day:
John 15:10-11
10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.
NIV

Father, I pray You would send someone else into Alex’s life so that he may come to a saving knowledge of You. Thank You for giving me an opportunity to serve You and be a part of Your work. I pray You would bring mor opportunities into my life and You would give me the strength to be obedient.
